Having fun making a short broll clip while adding some humor. All filmed on iPhone 7 using DJI Osmo mobile 2 and the filmic pro app. Please subscribe and share if you enjoy.
I first saw Ted playing drums with Tear Gas when I was fifteen and was amazed at his talent as I stood in Gourock’s Cragburn dance hall.
A brilliant and incredibly versatile drummer (probably one of the very few who could cover the massive eclectic mix required by SAHB) By all accounts a lovely fella anout whom no-one had a bad word to say.
RIP Ted,great memories
TED AND RORY WILL PLAY TOGETHER AT PARADISE……
Lovely tribute ❤️
I wondered about commenting here as I only met Ted a few times. We saw a Damned gig together and he commented they were as ‘tight as an MFI wardrobe’ 😂😂 he still loved the anarchy of it but he was better than all that, a true perfectionist. I had a meal with him thanks to my friendship with his girlfriend and he told me SAHB stories that’ll never be printed. A gracious man, full of wit and humour. Down to earth and a great human being. Financially shafted all his life (Micheal you cunt, pay your band) but never bitter. Takes a lot to rise above that b.s. but not Ted, he was always on to the next thing. A true artist and sorely missed.
Was lucky to attend the jazz summer school that used to be held at Pimlico school here in London uk 40 years ago now! It was just an amazing time with Ted, Brian Spring and Brian Abrahams for us drummers, all very different cats I think you’ll agree. Interestingly both years Pete Lockett was there as a kit drummer, I didn’t see anything special in him back then really…lol..then he started to learn the tablas and..well…the rest is history! Ted was just so friendly as were all the tutors… he’d bring his full kit and we’d be in class just chatting, maybe 10 of us, while he played according to the general questions and flow of the classes.. heaven!
How very fortunate and I'm sure, deserving for you! What a wonderful experience that must have been!!
WoW the questions I'd have asked ... on the road with SAHB
Glaswegians and music....It's just not about the bagpipes.......SAHB : Chris, Zal, Ted and Hugh....AND ALEX, the man in front of it all....Just one amazing part of a lasting memory. The music scene of one city, that will never be anything but a growth process....From the 60's onwards as modern music really kicked in, all of these players, plus hundreds more put Scotland and Glasgow very much in the forefront of music to this day...
All Sensational All Fondly Remembered. Vambo Still Rules
Damn, I never knew we’d lost him. One of my favourite drummers. Saw him in Belfast with Rory in the early 80s. Took Rory’s music into a new dimension and after that was a hard act to follow. RIP Ted.
Exactly. The recordings of Rory with Ted drumming are next level. He complimented Rory perfectly.
@@nickjh1968 you ever seen Sense of Freedom, the movie soundtrack they did around that time?
I was given the gig drumsticks by Ted at the kersal in southend in the 70s. What a highlight for me. I still have them and my happy memories going to every SAAB concert I could. Great days
How very, very COOL!
Cool story. But SAAB is a car. SAHB was a band.
@@onusgumboot5565 Probably that darn auto correct overrriding what Kirsten wrote!
@@maryreilly5092 I can't get auto correct to work on you tube. It just stopped doing anything. Now I have to look up words if I'm not sure of the spelling. I know it doesn't matter to most people, but I'm old. Things like grammar were important once. I just can't break the habit. Sloppy spelling leads to sloppy thinking. There's enough of that these days.
@@onusgumboot5565 Don't sweat it, please! These are all just comments in social media! My phone constantly puts in the wrong words and changes what I know is correct. As for folks who criticize others on comments they need to get a hobby, LOL. Stay Strong. God Made You. God Loves You.
Miss your presence in this world! Great drummer & a greater person! Rest in Peace Ted. x
Lovely tribute, thank you. Was very fortunate to see Ted in concert on a number of occasions with both SAHB and Rory!
*_My grandpa was / is a huge fan of The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, I've listened and seen many of their videos here on YT._* *_because of my grandpas recommend and I feel that Ted McKenna was one of the most unrecognised, unsung, gifted drummers ever ..._*
I fully agree with you and May God Bless your Grandpa's soul for introducing you to them.
Alex meets Tear Gas, SAHB was the marriage & what a beautiful fearsome 5 headed baby they were !
Saw him with Schenker a couple of times and he was flawless. What a tragic loss.
Ted was, and still is, a hero. This is a lovely tribute
Tedhad the foresight to see my potential while we were in a band called Shattered Hearts to put me up for the Womack and Womack gig. I toured with him on that tour for a,good while. He was a perfectionist. May his soul rest in peace.......
OMG This man was the father I never had. May God rest you're beautiful soul my lovely friend. The wrong way to go for a legend. I will always love and respect the love of music because of you Ted!
A fantastic drummer who made every band he played with better for it :-) Happy Birthday Ted!
Brilliant with Rory Gallagher, first time I saw him in" the stadium" dublin. Rip
Truly the best drummer I’ve ever heard
Superb showman and never met him but seen him on numerous occasions mainly with band of friends always 4t he was a top bloke and this tribute proves my theory. R. I. P. TED MCKENNA 🥁🥁🥁🥁❤️
Thank you for your talent Ted McKenna
I saw Ted with Msg in St David's Hall. Not sure the year. He filled Cozy Powells boots xxx Rip
Ted you were one the great drummers with John Wilson....rip.
Wish I could have told Ted how much I loved his drumming on Assault Attack.
Thank you Mr McK for helping to keep my act together since 1975. SAHB Live, though not popular with the band as they were ripped off, has seldom been far from my turntable, CD player or audio device. Faultless and always uplifting.
Huge Fan of Alex Harvey (most of my friends go WHO"S That ) and you were one of the reasons I liked the band so much its all starts from the bottom up.also remember seeing you on some old Rory Clips, again amazing drummer amazing band ....didn't know much about you but from all I just read you left your mark and it was all good ..RIP from a fellow Scotsman.... just stay away from Alex he's still crazy ya know
grand batteur bisous de Versailles
Love this guy
rip Ted...Every band you played with...you improved, your drumming was amazing and it stood out...you will be sorrily missed!
R. I. P Good travel,and the music always with you Beautiful video,thanks
So great to meet you Ted and Gerry . You were so kind and humble and of course one hell of a drummer . Rory On my Friend till we meet again . God Bless R.I.P
Fantastic tribute to a great drummer. I especially love his drumming skills on "Photo Finish".
Another underated quiet man of music that has passed away. The soundtrack of my life and those that made it are thinner on the ground. Not replaced by (for the most part) individuals who know the hard road to the top without social media! God bless youn Ted say hi to Alex for me when you meet up xx
Ted Mckenna "R.I.P" Miss you😭
RIP Ted 🌹
Shared a joke with Ted once in Solids, the punch-line was 'Quavers.' It wasn't that great a joke but the company was. R.I.P. Join the greats.
only just found out about Ted! .. an awesome drummer and very technical … RIP Ted another one of my drumming heroes leaves us X
Tragic loss of life - yet another medical "profession" cock-up. Bled to death during an elective op.
Missing you greatly Ted. R.I.P.
The best drummer - ever, bar none. RIP Ted xxxx
Awesome....
King among drummers Prince among men Rip Ted we will all miss you friend!
Gone way too soon, still can't believe it! RIP Ted!
Unbelievable that this lovely man and superb drummer has left us. Over the decades I saw him behind the kit in many bands, and more recently playing with Gerry McAvoy and Marcel Sherpenzeel in the "Band of Friends" here in my home town. After the show he came out to talk to anyone who wanted to talk to him and showed what a great guy he was. RIP Ted, a truly sad loss to the world of music.
R.I.P Ted, forever in our hearts ❣
RIP Ted.....one of the best.
RIP Ted !
Beautiful - thanks for this. Just a wonderful drummer. Played his heart out 🖤✨
I had the great privelege of playing on four albums with Ted and was astounded by how modest and down to earth he was. The first band I ever saw was Tear Gas and then Beggars Opera so to actually play with him was a highlight. Its hard to believe he's gone.
You played with Ted!? Amazing!!!!
